Quietly situated at the foot of the glorious Three Valleys, the world’s biggest ski area, Brides remains the characterful spa town of yesteryear. Nowadays, the resort is a little-known gateway to the immense ski delights of Meribel, Courchevel and Val Thorens. As such, it represents an attractive budget base for the more economically minded skier. But the resort itself is below the snow line, so skiers start by taking the main gondola straight up into Méribel.
The town retains its wealth of charming and sedate old French hotels. The main street has a modest quota of shops and cafes, but Bride’s real working life is still wonderfully clear. Eating out is catered for by only a handful of basic restaurants and cafes. Health-seekers can enjoy the treatments of a fully functional spa.

With just 17 compact bedrooms, the Gourmet Hotel is ideal as a base for a weekend or weeklong stay in Brides Les Bains. The Olypme Gondola is just a short walk away, approximately 500 metres, with all the main facilities in the town even nearer. The hotel’s bar & restaurant are separate from the hotel. Fabio’s Bar & Bistro is where guests take their meals. Continental breakfast is included, and in the evening a juicy hamburger and tasty jacket potatoes complement the otherwise Italian style menu offered. The lounge bar is home to a lively atmosphere, with music, sports TV and pool featuring high on the agenda. Internet access is also available.
