Lush, green and gorgeous with true blue skies and a stunning, colonial capital (Santa Cruz), La Palma is the isle of choice for walkers and artists. The north westernmost of the Canary Island group, this isle of contrasts turns tropical in the east (with lush palm trees and banana plantations) and Mediterranean in the west. In the north, treat yourself to sleepy mountain villages and stupendous vistas. Truly a hideaway to keep to yourself.
