It is an attractive, pedestrianised resort offering a multitude of shops, bars and restaurants. There is also some lively nightlife on tap. The resort remains highly popular, given that it enjoys an inspiring combination of wonderful terrain, comfortable accommodation and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Its virtues have been recently underlined by winning the 2010 Winter Olympics. This has spurred on an ambitious construction programme, with plans to invest further millions in on-mountain improvements.
The resort offers a wide variety of skiing terrrains, including a park for boarders, and is suited to all abilities. With an annual snowfall of over 30ft, there is also plentiful powder skiing. Its twin peaks offer the longest continuous vertical drops in North America, and the skiing and riding for all standards falls nothing short of superb. It also enjoys a wonderfully high number of superb blue-sky ski days.
